This is the first stage in our relationship, the critical time spent getting to know you, why you’ve contacted us, what your presenting challenge is and what you want to achieve through your coaching sessions. Most importantly we start to get in touch with the real you and explore your own unique happiness factors. Be prepared to gain some critical insights here and throughout the rest of the sessions about what really makes you happy and what may be getting in the way. How often have you heard people say “I wish I’d known then what I know now”? Many people don’t stop to consciously think about their happiness, let alone ‘learn’ about happiness. We consider this to be a fundamental part of the happiness coaching process. The more you understand about happiness, what it means to you, what enables you to feel it more often and what gets in the way of it, the more likely you are to stay in your ‘happiness groove’. Drawn from a wide range of scientific, psychological, philosophical and spiritual sources, we will introduce you to relevant and practical ways to make the changes you want to make. This is where we focus on what is most likely to work for you, ensuring that any changes are realistically aligned with sustainable goals for happiness and your personal motivation and that you are committed to the process. It’s where we ‘try the proposals on for size’ and see if they ‘fit’, so you can totally embrace a new way of thinking, feeling and being. During this stage we start to put clear strategies in place to make the changes you seek. Changing your life is all about changing your habits. These might be internal habits to do with the way you think and respond and/or they may be external habits to do with the way you engage with the external world. As you embed these strategies into your mind, you find that they soon become automatic and your general enjoyment of life increases.
